A 50-year-old man from Maryville, Tennessee, was riding his Huskey riding lawn mower when he was struck by a Honda Accord driven by a 25-year-old woman.
According to police, the woman was driving on Middlesettlements Road when she traveled across the oncoming lane and into the victim’s yard. She struck the back of the man’s lawn mower.
The man was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he spent several days before succumbing to his injuries. The woman was treated for injuries and then arrested when released. According to police, she had warrants for her arrest for failure to appear and for criminal impersonation. Police said that the woman provided a blood sample while she was at the hospital and there is a toxicology report pending.
There was at least one passenger in the vehicle with the woman. He was also arrested on a Knox County warrant. He is 33 and from Maryville.
A friend of the victim said that a mutual friend of his and the victim’s was at the accident when it happened. He said the victim was knocked over 60 feet into the air and, “He’s just been a wreck since it happened.”
